Is Radisson Red London Heathrow Hotel Worth the Stay? A Comprehensive Review

Updated: Oct 23

Our Stay at Radisson Red: A Quick Family Stop Before Barbados

We stayed at the Radisson Red near Heathrow for one night before flying off to Barbados, and I have to say, it was quite the experience. When we first walked in, we headed straight to the front desk. Honestly, I was hoping for a warmer welcome, but the reception was a bit “meh.” I guess that’s just how some London hotels can be—no big deal, but it wasn't the kind of friendly greeting I was expecting. Still, we didn’t let it bother us too much.

The interior, though, was a different story—it was gorgeous! Very modern with an art deco vibe, and you can’t miss all the red accents. To the left, there’s a cool Italian restaurant, and to the right is this massive lounge area with a bar and tons of comfy seating. One thing I loved was the quirky photos all around the hotel, each with something red in them, like a red phone or an accessory. It’s a fun touch that stands out. Oh, and the lighting? Totally glamorous, almost giving off a Hollywood feel. Honestly, the lounge area is one of the nicest I’ve seen around Heathrow.

There are so many places to hang out. You can chill near the bar or head down a few steps to this work area if you need some quiet time. There's another little tucked-away spot nearby too, perfect if you want to relax but still be close enough to grab a drink or some food. I saw people ordering things like fish and chips—big portions too! So if you don’t feel like doing a full sit-down meal at the Italian place, you can have a more laid-back bite at the bar.

Now, let’s get to the room. We were on the third floor, and getting there was easy with the big elevator. The family room was spacious, which was a relief since we had three big suitcases and rucksacks. But everything had its place, which was great! There was even a storage cupboard for the bags, plus a desk for work. The bed was huge—a proper Queen size. Honestly, you could probably fit a family of four in there if you needed to, but no worries, we had bunk beds too!

The bathroom was spotless, and they had all the little extras like shower gel, shampoo, and lotion. And the smell—wow! The whole hotel had this amazing scent, especially in the lobby. I wanted to ask what it was so I could bottle it up and take it home. It had a bit of a bergamot, almost masculine vibe, but it was really nice.

The shower was perfect—hot water, great pressure, and plenty of towels. I’ve been to hotels (and Airbnbs) where towels are always lacking, but not here. Radisson Red had us covered, especially for a family of three.

We could have ventured out since there are a bunch of restaurants nearby, but the hotel had everything we needed. Plus, it’s super convenient for taxi drop-offs and pick-ups with how they’ve designed the parking area.

We didn’t really interact with the staff much after check-in, so I can’t say much about them. The front desk could’ve been friendlier, though—it’s always a bit weird when you walk into a place and don’t get a proper greeting. Maybe it’s just a London thing?

Overall, we had a really good stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel itself has awesome facilities—pool, gym, spa, and plenty of lounge space. I’d definitely stay there again. Compared to other hotels in the area, the Radisson Red feels fresh and new. I’d recommend it for sure!
